Until I grow older, until to date after my retirement that I suffered a high blood sugar, a sign for diabetes. I could not believe that would suffer the being affected with diabetes, because I'm active in all outdoor activities, I don't want to stay idle, I want to be on the go. I want to always perspire every time I work on physical activities.

Excess of Carbohydrates, fats, proteins, are all harmful to the body. Our body in general needs a balanced diet to produce energy for performing vital functions. Too much of food, affects the pancreas from performing its function of insulin secretion. Hence, with insufficient insulin secretion, the blood sugar rises, leading to diabetes mellitus.

Why do so many people with Type 2 Diabetes require amputation at some point in their life? Diabetes causes many complications. One of the most devastating is diabetic neuropathy. This is actually the diabetes doing damage to the nerves in the periphery nervous system. It happens most often in the legs and feet. The problem usually begins with a tingling sensation in the area. Type 1 diabetes is treated with insulin.

The most common form of diabetes is Type 2 where insulin is resisted by the liver, muscle and fat. People who are overweight and inactive are the prime candidates for type 2 diabetes. Some symptoms in addition to those of Type 1 are: tingling lack of sensation in the hands and or feet, cuts and bruises that are slow to heal, and blurred vision.

Some people have a habit of sweating while they eat. This becomes very embarrassing when they dine in public. The medical experts, term this condition as gustatory perspiration. This habit may be caused by different factors, like, thyroid disorder, menopause, etc. But the most common reason is an abnormal link between his salivary and sweat glands.

You may have heard Syndrome X being called Metabolic Syndrome, Insulin Resistance or Metabolic Syndrome X before. Although it's overlooked by several medical professionals, this disease is very common. Some statistics reveal that up to 1 in 3 people could suffer from it. Syndrome X is a precursor stage to Type 2Diabetes. Those who have Syndrome X have a high insulin level and they can't process all the insulin created from their diet.

As a consequence, they develop a resistance to insulin. In this day and time do you really give the proper amount of time and attention to your health? You should! Some of us may go to a health Spa or Gym occasionally but is this enough? Some of us are on a fast food diet and love it down to the last bite. Let us look at the effects of the way we eat and the way we live our life, can make a difference in how long we live and how healthy you are. The definition of obesity is having a body mass index (BMI) that is equal to or is greater than 30. The definition of overweight is having a BMI of 25-29.9.
